hatch won't close
Me and my dad had my hatch up and we were painting around the edge of it black. After i did all that i went to shut it and I put it down so it could pull itself down but it wouldn't pull it down. This has happened before when my brother had this car but I can't get ahold of him right now to see what he did. We moved the plastic away from it to see if something was unhooked but didn't notice anything. Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?

did it suck its self down cause when i was building my sub box mine did this the hatch got set down and the latch just sucked back down there is a little circular metal lever that holds the hatch clip down in there you need to turn your key and pull up on this and it should come up if that is the prob. sorry if they are pretty vague but it is hard to explain.

The part you had to fiddle with is a small black plastic switch next to the latch called the striker-sensing switch. The contacts in your switch are starting to go bad. You may be able to buy some time by spraying it with contact cleaner, which is available from Radio Shack. It will continue to get worse until you finally replace it. The bad news is that GM discontinued the 1986-87 & 1988-91 striker-sensing switches. The good news is that I still have a few in stock and available through my web site. When those are gone you'll just have to get another used switch from a pick-a-part and hope it lasts you a while. It's a good idea to replace it BEFORE it finally fails to work. It seems they always seen to finally die just when that rain storm is due to hit, or when you've got finals to take and haven't got time to replace it and the killer subs are in danger of being stolen. I hear the sad stories all the time.
