Anyone removed the rear defroster?

Ive been thinking about tinting my windows but I dont like the way the rear glass looks with the red defroster lines going across it, plus my rear defrost doesnt work and i dont drive the car in the winter anymore anyway. Is there a way to remove the defroster lines? Id assume you just scrape them off with a razor blade but maybe there is an easier way. Also, the black lines at the top of the window? any way to remove those as well? Ive seen some tint jobs that have a problem up there making the line blend into the tint. Anyone have pics of their defroster removed? Thanks for the help.

Can't say for the defroster, but the tint shop that did my 03 Monte Carlo used a black vinyl tape over the top lines. From the outside, it looks tinted and is smooth, and from the inside, it looks black. Looks good, just takes time to get used to seeing it.

I've removed my rear defroster...the main reason was that all of the strips were broken (beyond repair with that silver nitrate paint) and I was considering a tint job. Plans have changed, but I don't miss the defroster.

By the way, I used a razor blade.
