flame design,what you think?

this is just a rough draft of what im going to do not final design obviously, but, any input will be greatly appreciated. also this is not the only flames im putting on it im putting some on the front of the car kinda gonna give it that 3 dimensional look. i tried to find a pic of what im wanting to do but didnt succeed. also, the flames are going to be a clear pearl white/blue pearl mix really kewl color i will have to get a shot of the color i sprayed on a test panel for you guys so you can see the color.

I think it could turn out really nice. I would extend the lower flames out to the rear bumper, progressively longer as it goes lower. Some really long licks!!!! Fire Fire it rules!!!

well

im going for something different and im adding flames to the front and to the back ,so that way where the tape is that outlines them the tape is gonna act like a pinstripe so that way when i go over the entire car with the pearl blue below, its gonna have a ghost type appearance to it and under where the tape was is gonna be black to help break up the blue and make it look like the whole car is engulfed in flames and not just have a solid blue pearl car. hope that made sense ill try and sketch something in ms paint if it didnt to help explain it a little bit. here is the color im going to put on the car.

dont laugh

i done this in ms paint real quick for ya, imagine this on the front of the car the blue is obviously what im doing the flames in and the black is where the tape is gonna be, also the blue wont be real solid just kinda misted on to break it up if i do it right, and then in the picture above of the actual car the back of the car is gonna stay black except for the licks of the flames. hope this helped.

use thinner tape, 1/8" is nice, to mask the flames off. the flames look to blocky with that wide tape. use/copy off an example of some flames you like, don't freehand it, the flames don't look fluid enough. just my .02

I'm not aiming this towards "you", but I don't really like the idea. The "only" flames that I DO like are the ones that are air-brushed on that fade into the paint w/ orange/yellow/red...it doesn't look like a glued on template or anything...the "template" looking flames just turn me away...

when you say those are just a template. are they gunna be close to that shape/size? if those are the flames you liek then thats up to you, i prefer long, clean flames... but it all depends on what you like. i attached a picture of some flames i did (also just a quicky job) and heres a link of more pics if you're interested

This could turn out very interesting if done right, I'm definitely intrigued.

One suggestion, most of the time you want to start the flame pattern and a body line or panel line, like the speed is burning off the panel, anyways I would suggest not crosing the hatch line like you did, but use the line to inhance you flames.

o.k. guys

i finally found some 1/8" inch tape at work today they had it hid, dont worry about the above flames as far as the shape as when i get off of work today its going to be completely more kewl and clean than the ones that are on there right now, reason being is the 1/4" inch tape i used would not make the turns the way i wanted them too and that is the reason they look so FAT its 12:10 my time right now i get off at 6 today and ill have more pics posted of new flames hopefully by 7-730 i hope you all will enjoy.

thomas

p.s. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK OF THE COLOR I CHOSE TO DO THE FLAMES IN?

Id have to agree. Not a big fan of those fat short flames. I have yet to see a car with those that look good and doesnt look like they were drawn with a hotdog. So your gona do the flames in 2 different colors??? Like a 3D?
