Body Shaving / Molding

More than likely this has been done,
an idea i had was molding in the ground effects on a 92 camaro, making the car smoother. also filing in the lines where the bumpers meet, and bassically just making it look like all 1 peice. i thought it might be a nice addition, without majorly modifying the stock appearance. down fall would be that some of the lines i want to shave, take away the cars... well, body lines.
wonding 1: if anyone has some pictures of this
2: what your guys' opinions are on this.
3: what material would i have to use, that would work on the plasic and metal, bondo isnt intended for plastic right? and doesnt flex???

Fiberglass and metal expand at different rates...Bondo or fiberglass with both eventually crack, and you'll have to keep on fixing it, I dont know what to use!

The only way that I can see this working is to replace all of your steel panels with fiberglass panels. I've tried for a couple of years now to blend the seams using many methods - to no avail. Eventually they all start getting the little spider web cracks. For a daily driver the only way I can see it working is with fiberglass panels. Which, if I don't part out my car, is how I'll do it.

ok so how do you guys think it would look? any pictures?
i cant deside if it will take away the styling already there, or just give it a smoother look....

Would that flexible bumper repair stuff work? It'd be pretty easy to remove those lines in photoshop, i'll do It on my car and post it in a few.

the ground effects is what im talking about doing. the bumper to fender line was an extra thought, but i think ill leave them for now.

any input on whether the plastic filler stuff woulsd work? will it even stick to the metal?
what plastic filler did you use? i want to fix a few spots on my ground f/x and i want to shave my emblems.

still no comments on what you would think? woud it look ghey or r!cey? any coments good or bad are welcome...

I tried all kinds of compounds to make it work, including an epoxy that is used to cement rebar into concrete - they all cracked. I tried the two part 'flexible' filler, worked until you put glazing compound over it for paint - cracked. At one point I had a different epoxy at each corner of my car AND at the ground effects. No luck. I think it was a flex issue as well as an uneven heating issue during the winter. You'll have better luck if you go with all fiberglass. Just my last two cents.

a friend of mine owns a body shop and completely molded a thirdgen, now the car is back b/c after a minor accident, everything has to be remolded and repainted. IMO, the side skirts look like crap and the front and rear bumpers really don't look that different to justify what the girl has to go through now
