Overlay installation question... and dash removal question
When installing overlays... do you remove the old gauge faces (the stock black ones) or do you just lay the gauges over the existing gauges? If you have to remove the old gauges, how do u go about doing this? Lastly, when removing the dash, how do you get the headlight **** out, its impossible, i cant gain any access to it...
Any help would be appreciated...

Killa..... 1st. The gauges go over the old ones there is not an old face to remove. And just in case no one told ya DO NOT PULL YOUR NEEDLES OFF just fish em thru the holes, can be a little frustrating but you will get it. Dont bend the needles too much either cause they break easy. Once you get em on make sure and do your best to line em up with the dash right so everything is accurate and looks good. U might wanna use some sort of mild adhesive where u can to hold em down (i wouldnt go any stronger than a gluestick or some elmers glue probably) Only reason i recomend adhesive to hold em flat is cause apparently mine stick up a little in a spot and now my speedo needle sticks at 70mph
.
2. Once you get your dash apart (or at least get the big pannel under the steering wheel off, pull your headlight switch all the way out to the on position.(pull headlamp fuse first cause i burned one out when my screwdriver hit the wrong thing) Look up from the underneath of the dash and the metal piece that u can see where the headlight *** connects into has a small tab on the bottom of it you need to push it in with a screwdriver and pull the *** and it will come out. (if i remember the tab was up inside a hole in the metal switch). If u dont see what im talkin about do a search here, there are directions somwhere.
Hope this helps and enjoy your new dash...... My overlays are deffinately one of my favorit mods!

Well heres the thing...
I bought them already off ebay and installed them before I posted this topic. Only thing is, that at night, I cant see anything with the gauges. According to the directions that were sent with the overlays, I needed to peel off the existing black gauges, then glue the new overlays in their place. This didnt seem right to me, because they were "overlays" meaning they should LAY OVER the original gauges, so I just aligned them over the original gauges and it was fine. It looked great in the daytime, but at night, I can faintly see the tach, fuel, temp. volt, and oil, gauges, and you cant even see the spedometer because the old spedometer underneath is shining through....
I am going to try to take off the whole dash again and try again, thats why I was wondering how to do the headlight ****.
If this sounds accurate let me know... because it doenst seem right to me.
By the way these arent Macewen overlays, I bought them off ebay. Here is the auction... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Well...i looked at the auction and it doesnt look good. Those appear to be solid with the markings printed on, correct?? With our cars the dashes are backlit thru the markings so the only way your gonna really be able to see em is probably to either take em off and cut out all the markings so the light can shine thru (hope your patient), or else find some kind of small light...maybe like a little 5" black light or small neon tube might look cool and install it inside your dash somewhere to light the whole panel.
Or you could cut your losses and go here I think these are the right ones for your car, you got the 110 speedo right? These are the ones i got for my car (weird thing is i dont see a listing for my 145's anymore) they look awesom at night best 40 bucks i ever spent.
