paint dosn't match
after having my car off the raod for 2 years, it's finally ready to be back on. the 400's working right and as i was looking at the car while working on it, i figured i'd fix a dent or two.
so, i poped them out, sanded them (there was a bit of rust, but it' all gone) put some filler on (thin) and then primed.. i took off my gas cap lid and brought it to a reputable paint place, got a spray can matched up, painted the spot but the color's off.. not by much, but it's noticable.. i don't know if it's because the paint shop messed up (they're pretty good at what they do, i know a few guys who work there) so i don't think that's the problem, i'm wondering if the machine didn't pick up the color right because it has some metalics in it or if it's just because the paint's not dry (it's been 2 hours and i can touch it.. so.. i dunno)
the paint color is medium metalic maui blue (but a shade lighter, as the car was repainted like that a few years ago (3 years)
what do you think?
does paint need a few days to dry to get to it's color or what?
i put a layer of clear overtop of it to see if that would change anything.. didn't seem to.
the spot's about 4 inches round..
thanks for any response.
