carpet dye?

so sometimes i get OCD ...well...this week has been one of those times....i ripped my door panels off, scrubbed the hell out of them...said hey....might as well pull all the seats out and scrub them too!!......got done with that...looked at my carpet......ya know that would look good too if it were clean!! ripped it out....scrub scrub scrub......barely clean....ive been scrubbing for a couple hours trying to get it clean.....nothing is helping....i have used oxyclean....damn dish detergent.....clothes detergent....

im thinking about using a can of Gojo since my seats came out real nice when i used it on them......

but if worse comes to worse....which it will cause my luck sucks....

Where do i get carpet dye? i need the gm grey...but thatll be inpossible to match up so....ill settle for whatever grey dye i can get......any ideas??? anyone?

I used Dupont vinyl and fabric spray. It turned out pretty good, going from tan to black. I don't know if you will be able to match the colors though.

i went and found some SEMS carpet spray type stuff....isnt a dye....but it works none the less.....bad problem is theres no way to match the colors exactly....so you gotta just spray ALL the carpet.....its gonna take about 5 cans at 8.50 a can....pretty damn pricey but i did half the carpet just now and it looks 90% better....its no miracle in a can...but it does the job.

this stuff is A LOT like spray paint which leads me to ask.....COULD i just use some cheapo medium grey krylon? i mean..im not sure what the difference is between SEMS and Krylon....im no paint expert by far.

i figure i can do all the carpet for about 50 bucks....the back carpet is flawless but since its impossible to match, i just gotta bite the bullet and spray it all....

my carpet must have been dyed once before...i took the front piece out and scrubbed the hell out of it with NON bleach detergent......aand out of nowhere this damn near white spot 2 feet wide appeared.....so no matter what it was replace it or dye it....in any event...its looking pretty decent.....i need a digi cam to take a shot of the finished side vrs the unfinished....it looks flawless in comparison. but as with any spray paint stuff....its hard to get an even mist over the whole area to get it all perfectly matching....but ....its better than it was i suppose.

I know alot of people just use the cheap 99c to $2 stuff to do there carpet, it may be hard to find the color you want though. Just get a stiff nylon brush and as you are spraying it, brush the fibers up and down to keep them from matting. The fabric dye is best but ist 6-8 dollars a can, not to bad but new carpet is only like 200 dollars by the time I spent 60 on paint I would go with new carpet, and nothing makes a car look/smell better than new carpet. But if new carpet is to price for you and you dont mind less than perfect results dye it.

BTW you can use the ritz dye also (its a powder, walmart and grcery stores have it) mix it up in water and brush it in, let dry do again, and again until you get it as dark as you want. Det dry for a few days, clean it real good and put it in. Ive never done the ritz way but ive been told it works, but finding a sutible grey may be hard.
