headlights acting funny
Hey guys, on my 89 formula the headlights lift up werid. Due to my fiberglass hood fitting weird the driver side light would rub a lil on the hood going down. And now the driver side gets stuck sometimes going down. ANd when i finally get it down and try opening them the pass. side only comes up halfway. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Are you sure it is the hood that is causing the problems with the headlights not opening all the way? The plastic(whatever material it is) that is used in your headlight motor could be deteriorating and keeping the headlights from opening/closing properly. I am not talking about the rubbing of the drivers side headlight, but the improper lifting of the passenger side light.
You might try looseneing the bolts to teh drivers side light assembly and see if you can slide it towards the fender slightly to eliminate the rubbing. There is a little adjustment there when all 3-4 bolts are loose.
The headlights on my GTA would go up half way then stop, when I took the motors apart, the bushings from the factory where literally in crumbs. Once rebuilt they work like they are brand new. If you need to go the rebuilding route I suggest the Kit from Lon at TDS, Only like $30 and maybe 45min to an hour of work to rebuild the motors.

Actually the209280 Deluxe Headlight Repair Kit is $18.50. You can adjust both the alignment of the headlight bucket (4 bolts that attach it to the cross support) and the aftermarket hood. There are also plastic stops inside the headlight bucket that can be screwed in and out to control the closed and open positions of the headlight.
