You have to take the bumper cover off to get those things off, or at least undo the upper portion of the bumper so you can get your arm in there to undo the screws. There's like 10 or so per cover, and they have a 9/32 head on them, plus they are the exact same as the interior screws if you need some of those.

And as for the rear, you have to undo the rear paneling, remove the spare tire stuff and tailights, and undo the quick-pins to get the bumper cover off, as well as the bolts on the sides of the cover, same as the front.

It is easier to remove the cover to pop these bad boys off, otherwise they are a very large pain in the n...!. Good luck with it all,

Not necessarily... I have done the front with the bottom still connected to whatever the thing is it connects to, same with removing the front impact honeycomb thing... Now removing THAT with the lower edge still attached is a PITA...

Its not that hard. Just put the parts together and slide them whatever way they have to go, unless you happen to remove shims when the cover comes off, then put the quick-pins in the bottom (and top for rear) when done.

They are little black pins that GM uses all over the place to join the body together (unless the DPO was just being a major PITA again). They have two parts: a pin in the middle and an outer section which expands when the pin is pushed in flush with the top. Pull out the middle to remove the whole thing, but sometimes they can tend to clog up with road crap and be a PITA to remove.

Either eBay, a junkyard, or possibly an online catalog... I don't recall seeing them in the newgmparts.com database in their collision parts category...

Hey, lemme know when you plan on going to a j/y. I have to go out this week sometime and nab myself a manual rear window latch (power pulldowns broke AGAIN and I don't want to even bother with it this time...) and rearview mirror (DON'T ask... it's not broke but its not in good shape) and I know of at least one Firebird there that still has both of its factory bumper covers (at least it should... been a while since I've been there) with those plastic pieces in place... I'll take the covers and you can have the inserts...
