Sanding and Painting

So I have been taking rust off and what not trying to at least recover as much of my car as I can on my own since I can't afford a 3k paint job right now. I had painted the nose with enamel paint and then afterwards realized I really should have primed it and wasn't happy with the way it came out anyways so I took the paint off. Remover and 80 grit sand paper took it all off but now I got all the sanding scratches all over my nose. Was wondering if anyone thought

would help, or

would cut down on the hand work...I know I'll have to do a lot by hand but if I could make it easier on myself on some of the bigger areas maybe I wouldn't be doing this till I was 80yrs old.

hmm 80 grit huh. i wpuld say to much grit for urathane bumpers but i guess you figured that out.

you should get a air d/a sander andforget the electrics. you need the random sanding of a da to get it back smooth with much lower grits. do a search it has been on here before on how other have done it.

i would expect if you use either of the sanders you shown you may und up with horable low spots that you wil never get even again.

Jeff

oh and when you paint done forget the adhesion propmoter before primer.

I just got a duplicolor primer and med grey for my car. I put paint remover on first to take the enamel paint off and was afraid it would eat the bumper so in despair I used a high grit to get it all off quick.

JeffW right I have had to fix this problem before you will need a palm da sander A\C or air will work first sand with the da and 180 grit until it feels smooth then sand with 320 grit until it looks smooth then it helps to wipe the sanded aera with lacquar thinner then prime with a 2K primer surfacer
