need opinion on this bumper bar

Hey guys,

I found this rear impact bumper bar sold my paddock:

http://www.paddockparts.com/Paddock/...63A2BB4417106A

They have replica ($70) and GM item ($137). Does anyone know what the difference is, and is GM item really is twice as good as the other one?

Mine rusted out pretty badly, so need a replacement. Are these items common to rust? Anyone know what I can do to prevent future rust in this place?

Its prob a after market part. It should be ok if u don't mind no OEM pats on your car. For that part as long as all the holes are in the same place i would use it.If it was a fender or qurter i would go OEM. And yes they rust out. they do not do a good job of rust proofing them. Even on new cars. U could try to use soe kind of body wax to coat the inside of it and paint the out side.

i agree with jay. go with the after market just be carfull when handeling the aftermarket part can have some sharp unfinished edges.

do a search on my post" diffrence between oem and aftermarket"
i have quarters and it shows the major diffrence. i would buy only oem parts if it shows fenders ect.. supports save the dough for other items.

when you get your new parts treat em with por 15 that stuff is like iron and should not rust again. treat all the areas behind the bumper cover that will not have colored paint. ( example: licence plate area (no por 15))
