speedometer question

Hey guys. I might have stumbled onto a 145 mph speedo cluster from an Iroc with a 350. Will this just pop right into my 86. Or will there be some difference inbetween because I have a 305 and not a 350. I know its cable driven, but just not sure if anything will go wrong or not. Thanks for the info.

It'll drop right in. The only thing to check is the location of the trip odometer reset button.

Yeah, the trip button is in the right spot. I think they changed that after 84. I just had ready something about VSS, not sure what its about or means. Thanks for the info.

If its cable driven like you said VSS isnt a problem... cause you car doesn't have it!! Its just a electrical control sensor that reports the speed to the speedometer instead of the cable like you have. I think Dakota digital makes a module that converts the cable to electric.. but you wouldn't need one if its not an electronic speedo.

Yes, he has a VSS. It's the little yellow box on the back of the speedometer.
