Found a heckuva deal!
I found a 1985 Trans am that is black and gold, has t-tops, and no motor and tranny in for $350. The body is almost mint. My mom's relative said the previous owner took the 305 (LB9) out and put a 350 in, but they could never get it to run right, so he got it for $400 thinking he could turn it into a racecar, but he is selling it to me for $350! My dad has a shop that he professionally repairs vehicles at for a living, and he said that I could park it in the back while I am fixing it up.
The car has power everything, no rust, gold ground effects, and the black "lace" or whatever they are called wheels. I am really excited to get started on this project.

sweet deal considering the crosslace rims alone a set around about the price you paid for the whole car LOL.

Sweet.
I'd check through the wiring harness when you get the car, maybe replace it if it has induction problems. That can often cause problems with new engines. (My dad is having a problem with an '83 Malibu... we dropped a "new" 4.1 V6 in and ran into trouble with backfiring. It's the wiring harness...)
Otherwise it sounds like you got a great deal there. No, really, make that a steal...

Yeah, I went to look at it and I couldn't believe it had a set of the black cross lace wheels on it. There are some gold colored 5 spoke rims of some sort in the trunk with it.

JUMP ON THAT BABY!!!
You'll never find a better deal than that, and you've even got a place to put it and work on it. Talk about an ideal situation!!! Now you'll have plenty of time to do the drive train the "right" way.....

Yeah, I plan on using the 91 350 block out of my pickup. I can also get a set of brand new vortec heads at just above dealer cost
, so those are a must. This car is going to be badass.

Just remember - while the Vortec heads are really good for the money, the only fuel injection manifold available for them is the SDPC TPI manifold at around $400 and a possible waiting list to get one. So if you go with the Vortecs you might want to consider using a carb if you haven't already.
Not to intentionally hijack a thread, but I just noticed vernw's post about a (possible) waiting list for SDPC's Vortec TPI baseplate. Mine's available with no waiting list, and the Vortec heads go with it - I still have the original box with the original packing materials. PM me if you're interested.

damn, are you sure it wasn't stolen?
seriously though, nice find. You could get an LT1 and T56 out of a wrecked 4th gen, and have a nice looking, kick *** car with good power for cheap!
good job
