I-ROC Lower valance...
I called the GM dealer and they faxed me a pic showing that the lower valance is connected to the front side fenders (left and right) via a bracket and screws?? Is this right? I thought i was just going to be using bolts and washers. A little help here? Thanks.

Yeah the sides connect with a brackets that fit in the sides. The brackets have 2 studs on them and they go through the fender and attach with a nut.
Yo, Mike
Actually, don't those brackets have 3 studs? I'm almost certain of this (at least on my '89 IROC). Regardless, Mike is right - there is one bracket per fender, and this bracket has 2 or 3 studs with 10mm nuts. The lower valance mounts to this at the fenders, and it mounts to the bumper cover via approximately 500,000 10mm bolts (that should already have washers), give or take 1,000

I think your right, there probably is 3 studs. I cant remember. I'm gonna look at it tonight and get the definitive answer...while I'm looking at the 'bird to see where the ALDL connector is
I only say 3 studs because I distinctly recall all 3 nuts being an overwhelming pain in the ***
Heh.

There is three studs on that bracket. You can get the new bracket for less then $10 a peice. I think $5 each on gmpartsdirect. It's inevitable that those brackets will break on you if you remove the nuts.

Actually, I take that back...I'd rather try to remove my 700R4 bellhousing bolts with a 9/16 stubby than deal with those brackets again.- 89_IROC
PS - Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was 3 studs, but I wasn't entirely sure after mike83z-28 derailed my confidence with his 2-stud theory
