FLYNLOW92rs need rims advice

Hey FLYNLOW92rs i love the way your car sits expecially... I now have the money to get rims+tires between the price range of
$1,500-$1,800 for the whole setup i want the big rims with the skinny tires can you show me some diffrent idea's? I know I ran a post about this subject earlier. I dont know what Im looking for when it comes to matching up tires and rims... I want the 19's for sure.. I dont even know what brand of tire to get...

Here is my car if you dont remember what it looks like... hope you can get a better idea from the pictures..

pictures of my car

if anyone posts idea's please be realistic and keep on the subject..

Thanks all,

Westley

your budget will be used up in the rims alone 19's aren't cheap and the tires aren't any cheaper. a basic set of 18's in heavy cast with tires can easily net 1,000-1,500. jump up to 19's and you'll certainly add another 1,000 easy.

save a little more.

ya i think kandied was being nice to not point out that for a nice set of 19" rims like something in a 2 piece youre gonna pay at least 2000-2500 and probably closer to the 2500, and for tires.......probably almost as much

depends on where you buy.. 19" Zenetti Five for either in 19x8 or 19x9.5 $1,440 and $1,520 with free shippin and no tax charges for a set of 4! still in the price range... dont make be bust open my own personal bank and slay everyone with some 22 spinners on my thirdgen haha

my thing is i dont want to bust up flyinlows style.. need a little change.. i dont wanna bust up my pals ride.. unless flyinlow doesnt care in that case i can make them a option for me also, I dont need super heavy duty racing wheels either.. this is just for get me past da club so all the girls jump in the road..(like they already do but you know what i mean)

that's your choice...1500 for 1 piece 19" wheel and not tires sounds reasonable.

as far as styles personally i'd go with whatever you like it's your car and to copy is the highest form of "flatery" so have at it.

chances of the bolting up to our cars specifically as well as being a decent wheel are low.

best bet is to save, get the exact wheel you want...

Well we do have the benefit of being able to use alot of S-10 rims, And many of those rims are the right offest to tuck on those trucks and would work decent on a thirdgen. But chances of finding exactly what you want are slime to none

For your budget, which is not too much, why not look into maybe some Boze wheels. Maybe the Stingers $350 a pop custome built.
19's will be to much. The Zenitti 5's are a awsome looking wheel(it's on the site.). My choice would be Boze. We just put some Fang's on a 4th Gen T/A and they actually looked cool. Very nice indeed. For the Zenitti wheels you will need a adapter as I don't belive they make a bolt on wheel for our cars.
Look at Kandied'd car, he ha the Boze Stingers, look like the 5's and are a bit cheaper. You'll have some cash left for tires as well, well......maybe half of a tire. lol

too bad there is not much out there for the 5X4.75 bolt circle our cars run. The new C6 wheel is coming out too. OEconcepts.com has them up. I just got thier new catalog today at work and had some customers asking already about them when they came into look at some wheels. Boyd Coddington also has a awsome wheel selection. check out all of your choices.

bout it for a 19 in that price range. you should consider 18's and quite a bit of other things to make your car look decent....

Another downside to 19s is tire price, most of the time you'll end up paying more for a 19 inch tire then an 18 or 20, Just cause its not a common size....Food for thought

Very true on the "not common"on the 19inch tire size. They can be expensive.
I am not a big fan of the Falken tires, they are at best decent. There are a lot of other tires that are better for the same price or a bit more.

Why in the world would you want huge rims with skinny tires? I mean, big rims will slow you down, skinny tires will slow you down, and both together? I don't even know what will happen. Maybe the car will explode. We'll have to see.

19 too big, 18 ok, 17 sweet spot, 16's will do, 15's stock cr@p

It's a sports car, not an SUV after all

i have much better 60' times with my 18's then i had with my 16's and same tire on each. for street driving it's a bit more rough but the larger wheel, thinner sidewall handles 100% better then 16's.

i have 17's on my gtp just so i could fit my larger brakes....rather waste as they are just big enough to weigh me down and not large enough to look good. 18's are great, however for a race car not my first choice.

for street car they are fun.

I wouldnt have a problem running 18's, in fact when I was first looking at the Y2k rims 18's were my first choice, but have since decided to go with the 17's. For a street / Pro touring car I think it has the best bang for the buck. You can get awesome performance tires at relatively low cost (compared to 18's /19's) you can fit bigger brakes, and IMO it fits just right with the eibach prokit. But again a lot of it comes down to what you think looks good. Somebody could squeeze 20's in there and think there the best thing since sliced bread. I am going to tend to disagree with them though

Your budget is pretty low for what you are looking for. Like Kandied said, if the wheels are not made for 3rd gens than you will most likely not like the way they fit. That is if they fit at all. I have a very simple rim. I spent 220 per wheel for my 17x9 snypers. I did go with expensive tires but you get what you pay for. When it was all said and done I spent about 2 grand. I had to spend another chunk when I lowered my car to make the wheels acutally look like they belonged there. I would have loved to get a nice set of 18's but I realized that I would have needed another 1 grand or so.
