There are 4 special mounts with screws that thread into the inner roof panel, then the console slides onto those and is held in place with another 2 screws in the dome light area. See the pics in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...erhead+console about halfway down the page.

When I first installed mine, I was missing 2 of these mounts so I made them by using some sheet metal screws of the right length with a round head, then built the T-shape bushing up with some small washers of different diameters to match the ones that I did have. Worked like a charm.

Make sure you have the right roof console, too. There are 2 models - one for with and another for cars without T-tops.

I see the overhead console screws on eBay all the time, so you might check there if you don't have them.

I didn't have the special screws either. I went to the hardware store & found something simular to the orig. screws (bolt\screw). Since they didn't fit the holes in the roof of my car, I just used 'quik jb weld' to mount the 'bolt' (used tape to keep in place, so I didn't have to sit there holding it while it set). You just need to make sure the bolt\screw you use is the right size, to allow the console to 'slide' it into place.
That was over 2 yrs ago.
