tightening down the tops

tightening down the tops

How do I go about tightening down my car's t-tops?

if you mean to avoid leaks, from the experience of disassembling my car the only thing I can think of would be to replace the wether stripping and replace to center piece if it is all rusted

The mounts on the body are adjustable, but I wouldn't suggest adjusting them very far from where they are now. Unless they've been moved since the car was new, adjusting them down will put more pressure on the weatherstripping. If the weatherstripping is crushed by the ttops, it won't be long before they leak worse then they do now. Also, as you pull the top tighter, it doesn't line up right at the corners and the windows will start leaking.

Water leaks in at the front-outside corners of the t tops, where they meet the window. Is this due to someone tightening down the tops or is it also because the factory left out the secondary seal?

most likely the seals are just worn out and shot replace them and it will quit leaking ....
