Hatch glass question

Can someone let me know if there is some kind of finish clip on the top of the glass where the two ends of the steel band come together. I have a 1" space between the two ends of the steel band. Is there a finish clip or something ?

Mine just butt up against each other, I'd guess the adhesive is getting bad and the trim is slipping off the glass?
