'82 upper console trim removal

I need some help with removing the upper console trim on my TA. Basically I need to get to my power window switches and I thought you could remove the plastic plate that is held there with the 4 torx bit screws at each corner. Well, they wouldn't come lose and I rounded out the inside of them. Upon further inspection it looks like this plate is actually molded to the console!!! The shifter plate came off, as did the radio bezel, after removing the torx bits. If the power window plate is actually part of the console itself that is pretty lame for GM to do this. My fault for not having a manual I guess but if there are torx screws there I would guess you could take them out. Anyway I took all screws out and removed the shifter plate and radio plate, and took the screws out of the console compartment and under the parking brake. There is also a trim piece on the dash just above the radio. I took out the screws and it seems to come off pretty easy except at the far right side. It's getting caught on something and there isn't a screw there. Anyone know how to take this off without breaking it? Also, I cannot get my parking brake lever to come up...it seems to be jammed. From the looks of it, I'm going to have to get it in the up position to get this cosole cover off. This seems like too much work to get to the power window switches.

There is a screw under the plastic piece under the map pocket.

Remove that plastic piece under the map pocket and the screw for the trim piece above the Radio will be there.

Hope this helps.

You shouldn't have to remove the top of the console to change the switches, just reach under from where the shifter plate came off. That's how i changed them on my 83 T/A years ago.

Yah, I eventually tried that. It seems to be a PITA though. But now I kinda ruined the fake torx screws on that one pannel and it looks like crap now. I got to figure out why my parking brake is jammed anyway so I need to get this part taken off.
