Custom Steering Wheel
Does anyone know of a company that sell kits for grant steering wheels?
I want to replace my stock steering wheel for the Grant Corsa D Wheel part number 1031.
The problem I'm having is I currently have a airbag. But the airbag has been disabled as far as I know. :jerkit: :jerkit:
The below quote is quoted of grants web-site.
They do sell kits for the 89 model year. Do you think that would work for installing the wheel in my 91?

Installation kits are necessary to install Grant custom steering wheels. Kits are not designed to be used on any airbag equipped vehicle. If your vehicle has an airbag, refer to our airbag styling rings.

Where did you get the wheel from? If they can get the wheel, they can get the install kit. If for some reason they can't, I know for a fact you can get one from NAPA. I know because I work at a NAPA.
Hope this helps, Josh
Oh, I almost forgot. To the best of my knowledge, the only reason Grant says not for use on airbag models is b/c the wheel replaces air bag. You may just end up with some wires hanging around behind the wheel from disconnecting the bag.

You just need an install kit for an 89- or older thirdgen. Because the 90-92 camaros all had airbags, grant is saying they dont have an adapter that will work with airbags. Your getting rid of the airbag so it doesnt matter. ............................jt

I ran this by a good freind of minw who specializes in theft recovery, alarms and airbags. THE kit will work for the earlier thirdgens will work however apparently the 90+ year cars if the bag is disconnected and teh light stays on to warn you of a faulty airbag. In colorado the emmisions place will fail a car that has an airbag light stay on becasue it says it is faulty. HE said if you go to a non airbag wheel to pull out teh cluster and pull out teh airbag light so it wont be on as the emmissions place has no way of telling if teh car was originally equipped with a bag if the light is off, and shows no sign of an airbag ever being on tehre.

There can be a modification made in the computer chip can't there? I'm going to be custom burning a chip after the engine is in. If it will let me delete the inflatable retraints system, then all should be good.
