front license plate placement, 82 83 84 t/a's
anyone ever thought of an alternative to the front license plate mounting bracket option on the front bumper cover(of at least the 82 83 84 t/a and s/e's)?
to me it really does injustice to the sleek design of the nose bumper cover of these cars to have this plate setup mounted to it like they do,
the car looks sooooooooo much better minus all that, but in IL and etc you have to have a front plate. you wouldnt even know that it coule even wear a front plate at all if it werent for the holes they put in the bumper cover, my plate frame is bent up real bad, i may be able to straighten it up but its just not good for the cover and my cover is in good shape reusable after a repaint, dont really want to put it on
sucks that they have to wear a plate setup like that, eventually that plate setup is gonna damage that cover beyond repair i would think, its not that strong of a cover and it is all that retains the weight of the plate assembly
but i cant think of any other option other than running with just the back plate and hope they dont notice and pull me over for it, ive ran around with just back plate in the past on a couple other vehicles ive had and never got pulled over for it, but i dunno... the trans am stands out a bit more than other vehicles, so hmm,.
they might actually notice that its got a back plate and no front one, i dunno,
hell ive been pulled over in a vehicle before cuz the tail/brake light wires came undone and i had an expired sticker on my plate and they didnt say anything about it, they seem to be just cncerned about lights and seatbelts and exhaust noise and windshield cracks 90% or more of the time
i think i could get away with it for a good long while at least, but a better option would be best,
hmm
thanks

check out the product shown in this thread:

The website states that it's for 89 and up firebirds, but members in the thread say it isn't difficult to modify it to fit on earlier cars. It's cheap, better looking, and I'm seriously considering this option myself.
