ok i wanna know if they have a conversion out there or if anybody has converted the front end of their 3rd gen firebird to the 2nd gen front end or to a 3rd gen camaro front end.

1. Camaros don't have popup headlights so it'll look awful.

2. 2nd gens are probably a different width not to mention it will look horribly out of place.

2nd gen are yu kidding? you realize the body lines are Entirely different right? and if you wanted a camaro front clip you shoulda bought a camaro b/c the headlights are not going to look good and if you go without the popups you need to change the hood as well although with good bodywork anything is possible... i guess

I've been looking into it. It takes some work, but the camaro front end can work... I've been offered sponsorship to help cover some of the costs. All the lights, wires and everything gotta be swapped... Guess I'm not the only one with that idea. I'm also looking into getting a custom bumper made so it keeps the firebird lights but makes the actual bumper seem smaller or not to have the same "point" to the nose.

What the hell are you talking about. A firebird with a camaro bumper? That's all a Camaro is! And it's not very difficult to visualize a 2nd gen bumper on there either... YUCK.

 

You'll need to swap the front fenders too, they are not the same.

 

what he is talking about doing has been done for decades by automotive designers. Merging the style and body lines of 2 or more cars to make something unseen yet. Just look at the new mustang for example, they used the styling ques of the past and features of the present and made one bad azz looking machine. please don't bash me for mentioning the blue ovals

 

as a matter of fact, the other day on My Classic Car, I seen a new corvette with the front and rear end of I believe a 56 model. I thought it looked like S*** myself but he won an award at the show with it. It is a matter of opinions, sometimes being different is good and sometimes not.

 

in terms of converting the front end to a second gen, it would require alot of custom work.. and in the end most likely wouldn't look good. swapping to a thirdgen camaro's front end can be a bolt on job (you might need to drill holes, though), and you'd need:
camaro fenders, hood, front bumper, headlight assembly/harness, and possibly various mounting brackets and such.
I've seen such a conversion done, and it really looks dumb and out of place, but thats just my opinion.

 

the part about the camaro frount clip that would look funny is that 3rd gen camaro and 3rd gen firebirds have differnt shaped fender flares. go for it.

 

doesn't look that bad i have one 87 trans am with 89 camaro front clip and doors you don't really notice unless you really look

When my wife tore the nose off of my 85 'bird I used the nose off an 84 Z-28 that I had out back. As long as you have the headlight harness it'll bolt right up. We did mine in a couple of hours. The plugs are the same so it's a bolt and play set-up.

Oh well to each his(or her) own. Much respect for anyone willing to do that much body work especially if its a little unorthodox i cant wait to see it even thought im skeptical.

 

yeah I like the new mustang because of the old world style of it. I like my z-28 better lol, but I do like it.
