This is just awesome..

Has anyone on TGO ever done this? I think this is so clean looking..really cleans up the engine bay. I would be interested in doing this.....just not sure how to go about doing it....

Looks good...
Don't get caught in the rain.

Why do you say its plexiglas? I see the bolt holding it in, but what else tips you off...

this might be something I'll be doing in the future. I don't drive mine unless it's nice...but it would suck getting caught in a down poor

I guess as long as I have "Rain X" on my windshield
I really don't think it would be to hard of a project to do....some simple welding, removing some parts..and some fiberglassing.

the reason why he says its lexan/plexiglass is because on the guys cardomain site he says that it is, he has basically everything lexan except for the side windows. Here's a link to his page just encase any1 was wondering what else he had--- http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/403007/2 . In my opinion his car is one of the best, i think it sits up there with Kandie's. But yea i def think it would look sweet to do what he did with the Shaved wiper cowl area.

never seen it, thought about it, or sta...

nevermind, yeah something like that looks very good.

haven't looked at his site in awhile, like the lexan idea but his use of dynomat defeats his weightloss purposes. i wonder how much more he spent to get the lexan? i've been trying to find shatterproof material with no luck in the shape i need.

the best way would be infact to make a cover of sorts to look like this. use the factory motor gears to attach it somehow. then for actual normal use it could be removed/replaced with wiper arms......that or just smooth everything out still keeping the arms which isn't hard to do.

When we left for the PT this year I was thinking.... if it rains it will only be for a little while....after driving three days in almost solid rain the wipers are on top of my list for next year lol

something I didnt know but found out the hard way rain x only lasts about an hour in a steady rain

I was thinking of doing that wouldnt be too hard just would block off the wents and all that. I am not even driving this car in the rain anymore though if i can help it just looks alot cleaner. What about the spacers under the windsheild though that help keep it in place.

you can still smooth it out and keep the wipers, looks just as nice.

Jeff,

It could be done of course, but it wouldn't be as easy as you're making it sound.

The problem with just smoothing it out is you have no way to access the wiper linkages if there's a problem later on. Even if you never have any problems with them, there are other reasons to remove them, like getting your car painted. Or how about if your wiper motor fails, you have to reconnect the linkages to the new motor.

I think a cover would be the best solution, the only other things you could do is make an access door on the firewall, which would really make the firewall look worse, or make an access door inside the car, but who wants to pull their dash to get their wipers fixed?

Mathius

An hour? Maybe it's just because my windshield is all beat up with tiny nicks and scratches that it can hold the Rain-X on, but that stuff lasts me near 6 months in the rainy Northeast.
