Filling in door rivet holes

Hello, i have a 1985 firebird with rivited plastic trim down the doors and fenders. I am wishing to remove this because it is deteriorating. I want to make the doors and fenders smooth where these pieces were rivited but i dont know what to use. Eventually i want it to have cladding the same color as the rest of the car down the doors and feners much like the formulas. I honestly know very little about body work but am willing to listen. Would fiberglass patching be good for this. I will attach a pic of what it looks like now. Thanks for any advice/ insight in advance. -Bob
