Questioin about AC Delete and HVAC Controls
I plan on deleting the A/C system on my car this summer and I might be able to get everything I need off a 1991 Z28 1LE (factory no A/C). So, that means I can also get the non-a/c HVAC control panel. Would there be anything tricky to swapping the 1LE controls in? I've never taken out my HVAC controls....I've tugged on it a little before..and it doesn't budge...how is it all hooked up? What's it's all hooked to? Would it be a big headache in install the 1LE set-up in the car?

Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
All the non-AC ones I've seen (82-89) used three cables to operate all the doors in the ductwork, instead of vacuum motors. I actually have not not seen an AC ductwork setup, nor one from a 90-92, so I can't say if the cables will just swap over, or if you would need to swap out the ductwork as well. Of course, the 91 could be fully vacuum operated...

For what its worth...when I bought my AC delete box from Dave Staubli(IROCZDAVE)(thirdgenusa.com)..I asked to buy the non-AC heater controls also...he said it is a "nightmare" swapping from the AC to non-AC controls..and to save my money
I left it at that..figuring he knows a lot more than me

I've heard that too.
I'm not a fan of doing or NOT doing something based on the difficulty of the task at hand, but to buy the controls and go through all the hastle of the swap just so the panel DOESN'T have those AC markings is just not worth it.
It's easier to make some OE looking overlays without the AC markings.

i converted everything over from an A/C car to a non A/C car. It was not hard at all and I believe I took about 3 hours to remove the old A/C stuff and use the non A/C stuff. It is operated by 3 cables instead of vacuum hoses, and works perfectly. It also helped that I had the complete GM manual with all the non-A/C diagrams to figure out what goes where. I believe I bought my stuff from "kanuck" on these boards, he's from canada and put A/C into his car and had no use for this stuff.
