deck lid...
So ...i painted my car..well all except the decklid beceause it was pretty shot i figured its a small area and i can fix that later on. (was on a schedule did the body work for class).
Well i was just bull****ting with my friend. and we got talking...
he says "now get carbon fiber hood, rims, and lower it"
I know carbon fiber hood would cost a ton to do and it probably wont happen, not happen any time soon if it does.
The local fiberglass parts manufacturer is 10 minutes walk from my frontdoor...so i was wondering about a deck lid....
Does the decklid seperate from the rest of the hatch? I never tried to take it off. i just removed the whole hatch as i had to treat the rust in the channel around it.

If so i thought maybe i could get a carbon fiber decklid made...and an estimate on a carbon fiber hood. I would probably Spray the decklid orange to match the car BUT tape off heritage stripes so i had carbon fiber heritage stripes.
Opinions?
...but of course this all depends if the decklid seperates from the hatch

1. Pop hatch
2. Remover plastic trim panel from underside of hatch.
3. Under the the trim panel you'll see the bolts holding the decklid to the glass.
4. Support the glass carefully and begin to remove the bolts and hatch struts.
5. There is buthl (sp?) tape between the glass and decklid. Unless it's warm and the car has been in the sun all day, the adhesive will be the hardest thing to remove. If you have a garage, I suggest you get it warm and park the car inside it for awhile. Becareful though and don't twist the hatch to much. Popping the glass and and needing to buy a new glass is no fun. With some work (and after buying your buds some suds for their help) it'll come off. Hope this helps.
