Convert hard top to t-tops or targa?
I know body shops can put a sunroof in just about anything (coworker had one put in a Dodge Neon), but do body shops ever cut a hard top to put in T-tops or (even better) a Targa Top? I'm sure they could if I paid them enough, but is it common?

Yes, a member here called FATAL has a Z28 that was a hard top, then a T-Top, then a convertible.
So .. yes it can be done.
theres an other member , dont know his screen name.. converted his car to a targa.
You'll need reinforcements, like SFC, a 4 point roll cage maybe..

Like what everyone else has said, it can be done, and you'll need some serious reinforcing. And it will be quite expensive, unless you are very good at fab.

TTop sure, targa top no. Not one member here I know of who has chopped the roof of thier car to make a targa has done it, let alone done it right so it does not leak like a garden hose. Many have attempted, you will probably see many pics of cars with the t bar chopped off, yet no one has made it work and/or made it somewhat water proof.

Tribaldaze did. I did but desided I wanted to finish it off and go vert. So like fatal88 did. I went all the way.
Front weather striping was used form a Vert. backs were original T top with a strip cut for the middle and added.
Quick simple way was to take the stock lexan tops and graft em together befor a mold was made for a foberglass top.
The only reason I desided to go vert is because a buddy who is Local desided he is gona do the same thing now. I walways wanted a vert and the conversion was easy.

Ive worked with composite materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber,Kevlar, etc) for around 8+ years. That and body work is just 2nd nature for me.
