not to sure about the speedo but the older models you need to disconnect the cable, the newer ones used the vss but cant remember if there is a cable that is driving it also.

All 90-up Camaros have an electronic VSS, so no cable to mess with. And, yes, the gauge cluster will just come right out once you get the black interior trim piece out of the way.

Just in case you want a good step-by-step of removing the gauge cluster, and replacing burned out bulbs, click on the link and read my post: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=268226

One big hint here before you get too far in this endeavor, disconnect the battery first. Not only for preventing any damage to the cluster gages but also for your own safety as well. No one likes an airbag in the face at close range.

thanx for the replies! and i will deffinatly disconnect my battery.
i look forward to getting it fixed. its a pain trying to drive and flip the interior light on to see what going on with the guages.

Id really like to put a 145 cluster in it from a z28. but wouldnt i have to get the car re-calibrated?

Just out of curiosity, have you checked the "TAIL" & "INST LMPS" fuses and the dimmer **** on the headlight switch?

Nope. Plug and play.
