headliner

any tips/tricks to removing our headliners without damaging the cardboard. i'm getting ready to pull it down to remove the seat belts/recover the headliner and i'm just curious if there are any little tricks i should watch out for.

how is it physically attached? is it glued or does it have plastic retainers?

On the t-top models, only the front is held in by plastic tabs. They will break when you remove them. I had to get replacements from the dealer @ 3.99 a pop! Look around on the net, you should be able to get them a little cheaper.

The rest of it is held in place by the dome light, sail panels, and rear panel.

if it is a hard top the front part by the windsheild just slides to the passenger side to release the clips that hold the headliner. Other than that take the headliner out the hatch area.

tip to remove headliner trim

I just broke two clips today and broke the trim piece trying to get the trim piece thats on top of headliner. The one that runs the full length of the door openings on top. Whats a good way to get at the clips without breaking the trim. Sorry to highjack the tread. But this has to come off to get the headliner out.
