harwood cowl hood GAS STRUTS
is there a different hood strut to put on fiberglass hoods,
seems like the one for metal hoods are too strong for the fiberglass ones, tooo much stress on the hinges

Try doing a search. This topic has come up many times in the past. I know there is one thread in particlar where we have places to get them and even part numbers. Good luck.

this may sound gay, but i run a new strut, and an old strut.
you have to be "just right" when lifting the hood, but it holds my ss hood just fine.

Get the struts for an 82 Z28. My Harwood and stock hood were almost the same weight, the stock beeing slightly more heavy.
