Vortexed my interior (lots of pics)

One of my closest buds who owns a body shop is now doing Vortex interior lining. It's a polyurea elastomer which basically seals the metal interior effectively protecting it from the elements, deadening sound, and insulating the interior. It's pretty much like dynamat only it's sprayed on, eliminates any rust buildup and is significantly cheaper from what I understand. Although this stuff is used for truck bed liners and undercarriage coating, he's one of the first people around to apply this on car interiors and he's got orders already filling up. My car was the first to be done a couple weeks ago.

Looks good! But also looks heavy. Never can tell though. Let us know how it does as far as sound deadening.

I was considering something along the same lines, but began to worry as I live in a town known as "the sun city" and I was afraid that during the summer, the smell would be unbearable. How much did it cost though? Looks like a good idea, but the weight aspect would bother me.

I'm not sure about the weight aspect with respect to dynamat. I think he said something like a 40% reduction in road/wind noise, and of course this would eliminate the need for a carpet underlay, so there is a compensation in weight there. I never smelled a thing when I was around the car so I believe it's odorless. I'll see if I can get a quote from him to do thirdgens.

Ok it's approximately 25-30 pounds added to the car.

25-30? Not bad.

When can we expect a test-drive report? Looks involved but might be worth it

I Just did something similar to my car. I bought a gallon of herculiner bedliner and a can of Rust tough paint. I Had a little rust hole in my driver floorboard i cut it out and welded in a new one. And thats why i did it. I used a brush though. I havent put the interior back in yet thats tommorows project.

Got to be easier to put on than the hell I went through while putting my insulation in!! How much material does it take to do this and how much $$$$???
It is also great for the underside from what I've read...

Nice job.

anybody looking for something similar this stuff is awesome.

Reduces heat and sound.

I was at the PRI show and seen it 1st hand. They coated 2 sides of a cooking hot plate. and left the middle open.

Well just say It took some ICE 5minutes to melt on the coated sides. and about less then 1 in the middle.

http://www.coollizard.com/

Performance

* Reduces engine and solar heat transfer by 25-30°F.
* Reduces noise by 10-12 decibels
* Forms continuous airtight, waterproof membrane
* Can be sanded, primed and painted
* Used under fenders to eliminate starring
* Withstands temperatures to 500°

Well worth the $$$$ i'll never go back to dynomatt now.

Any pics of your interior while doing that? Did the 2-gallon kit do the whole interior?

At the last Knott's Ford show I attended there was an entire late 60's Bronco COVERED in Herculiner. Looked awesome. If I ever get a Jeep that's the ticket for me. Great idea man.
