Aftermarket seat question
A while back I put a seat out of a grand-am in my car. The problem is that on the old seat there was a bracket on the headrest where the seat belt went through. The grand am seat doesn't have this so now the belt runs right across my neck and throat and is annoying as hell. I have been looking to put some aftermarket seats in my car but I'm afraid I'll have the same problem. What have you guys done to fix this problem?

please dont tell me you just recommended not wearing a seatbelt. (and if thats not what you meant, my apologies)
thats something an immature 16 yr old would say.
onto the seat problem. you could as a temp fix, pick up one of those $0.98 seat belt adjusters they sell at parts stores. its meant to adjust the shoulder belt over for shorter people/kids. its just a little piece of plastic that slides onto both belt section near the clip and moves the shoulder belt over. we sell em at advance auto, but you should be able to find them at any parts store and probably places like walmart/target/etc.

I was thinking about doing that but figured there had to be a better solution. I cant imagine that everybody who has aftermarket seats uses those adjusters. Thanks though.

Yes yes! I am highly curious about this too! I imagine that the headrest of an aftermarket seat would have to be taken apart and a small metal bracket installed to support the belt loops, and then reassembled? Anyone?

And now that i have re-read the original question, i was extremely off topic. I have never had the problem of the seat belt rubbing on my neck, but then again i am rather tall (6ft-2in) and still grown. Sorry about not answering the question the first time, but i am really not sure on what you could do.

Correct Me If I am Wrong, but i believe the problem he is having is that the grand am seats did not originally have a seat belt loop bracket on them, which might mean there is not a brace there for the loop behind the fabric. Where as the Firebird seats have a brace that the screws go into.

once again, i apologize for jumping to conclusions.
onto the topic. if the seats never had a loop for the belts, you are kinda outta luck for adding them. our cars came with them, so as previously mentioned, there is a brace for them and they shouldnt cause damage.
do the seats have sliding headrests? you could possibly fabricate something that fits in between the headrest and seat back that has a loop on in. that may be a viable option. other than that, i think you may be outta luck.

With my aftermarket seats (ebay cheap ones) the seat belt is not a prob. I don't use the little bracket the came stock, but cause of how the shoulder bloosters flare out at the top, the seat belt rides on it, and dont even come close to me neck.
