Well I dont care about weight really because Im going to be packing the car full of insulation/ sound deadening material. I've heard mostly good but some bad things about ACC. Does anyone know what Fbody Motorsports sells though? Now I just got to figure out what colors, Im thinking black and some charcoal.

This carpet is GREAT and the best price on the internet. I actually won this carpet on eBay from stock interiors for $114.00.
And for all the naysayers out there, I wrote to most of the companies out there ACC, Year One, Stock Interiors, etc and got color samples and carpet samples from them all.
The carpet is the same. The backing is the same. I couldn't tell any difference between them.
Good luck.

The carpet price from Stockinteriors is just for the passenger compartment only, if you want for the hatch area, it's another 119 bucks, still it's about 22 bucks cheaper than Hawks complete set for 259 bucks.

Ya but for 22 bucks I can do price matching or even if that doesnt work I dont really care because Im probably going to buy about 800+ of other stuff from either Hawks or Classic Industries. I would rather get it all in one package from a company that I can defidently trust.

Yeah, yeah......
Since I have a convertible, I didn't specify (or think) to mention that the carpet was passenger compartment only. Don't need the rest of it.
One is always definitely free to burn their money where ever they feel it is best. I would rather save a little and be able to buy something extra down the line.
......and I have bought from all the suppliers.
To each their own.

It is...
.....some kind of carpet like material, but it is all black and like brand new. Where as the coupes and t-top 3rd gens are carpeted (correct spelling?) from the firewall all the way back to the tail light panels, the convertibles are a little different, and even they vary somewhat from year to year.
What I mean by that is, that some convertibles apparently use the stock(like) coupe or t-top storage compartment (sides only) panels, where as some (like mine) use soft, carpeted panels to access the spare tire on the passenger side of trunk and have no "glove box" on the drivers side of the trunk.
Anyhow, I only needed the passenger compartment carpetting.
Whew!!!!

ACC, ACS, etc. all use or make very similar carpet. some companies offer a 1,000 thread count for a little more which is definately a nicer, tighter feel and look. the 800 thread count which is stock will fit most peoples tastes just fine and save you some money.

Higher Thread Count......
I think thread count is for linens....but I know what you mean.
Most carpet is rated by carpet weight. I think the industry standard (aftermarket) is 13.5 to 14 oz of yarn per square yard.
I have seen some rated higher than that. Only problem is that the color choice is extremely limited. My carpet color is "FIRETHORN" and was not available in the plusher carpet.
I would think if anyone sold an automotive carpet that was not molded would be nuts, I guess for that matter anyone that bought one.
You would want to look for molding, hemmed/sealed along the edges, correct heelpad (if applicable), carpet weight, and available colors, plus carpet style.....in our case nylon cut pile.

no they have thread count as well, but you are right about the weight too...
if you have someone who knows what they are doing it doesn't matter if it's molded or not. i prefer a much highter count so i had to have someone custom make it in the car for me. if your on a budget or doing a restoration then the molded carpet that's out there from just about any of the well known companies will be fine.

it's all preference. i used gm performance parts 4thgen mats. the carpet material, although still cutpile was much finer then the 800 that i had purchased from ACC so it looked slightly out of place. would have worked well had i used the 1000 count.

I think I decided to go with Hawks unless someone wants to talk me out of it. It was between Classic Industries and Hawks so I called both with some questions. When I called CI I got a machine and then had to wait literaly 15 minutes listening to advertising before I got to talk to some guy who didnt seem to understand what I was talking about. Then I called Hawks, a lady picked up, no machine and answeredevery question I had no problem and was very informative. Also Hawks offered the kit of headliner, sunvisor, sail panels with all the boards instead of Classic industries which just sold the materials to cover them and you had to buy all the boards seperate which would not have worked. Now I just got to figure out what to do for weatherstipping.
