General Camaro Question

I didnt really know where to post this, but ill do it here. Im looking into buying a 1992 z28 for my first car, but my dad says that he wants me to get a more reliable car, and im tyring to argue, but i dont want to be on the wrong side. How reliable are these cars? He wants to buy me a new car, but the only new cars i would ever think about getting they dont make anymore..ws6 or a camaro. I really want to get a 67 camaro rs, but they are a buttload more unreliable than third gens... so im not sure. Also, since im pretty sure that im guna get a third gen, I want to get a better interior, and im thinknig about a z28 headliner, and new seats. Would it be better to but some better quality ebay seats and wrap em in leather? or buy some aftermarket seats. and a pistol grip shifter. Does anybody know of any good back seat mods?

Every thirdgen is different. It just depends on the former/original owner. My 88 305 TBI was in great shape, but my 88 350 TPI was abused a bit. Third gens arnt hard to fix on your own. Tell your dad you gota start learning how to work on cars at some point!

If he's buying you a car then take it, haha. Just get one, have it tuned up, change pllugs and wires, starter, battery, alternator, etc if you're worried about problems and have money to burn. For the record I've had no problems out of the ordinary (dead starter after 14 years, etc).

from what i've read it seems that TBI'd cars can get 200k out of them pretty easially. Same goes for the v6 cars. I dont know a great deal about the tpi cars. All this is dependant on how the former owner(s) treated the car.

TBI'd 305, just rolled over 212,000 and sees redline at least twice a day. Never even had the valve covers off the water pump died at 190k but it was OEM so.......
