foun dmy leak

foun dmy leak

I finally found why i have been getting a pool of water in the driverside foot well but not sure why the water is comming in the car the water seems to be comming on next to the break is against the firewall on the inside. Any ideas what is causing this leak so i can fix it.

yep, i got an idea... look under your hood below the windshield. on both sides of the car, there are some seams that are "sealed" over - looks like putty. look at that very carefully and see if any of it is cracked, broken, missing, etc. even if it's a small crack, you'll get water. best thing to do is bust off all the old stuff and get you some good RTV to replace it with. no sense in fixing just a small area - do it all. i cleaned off all the old and squeezed the new in to the general area and then smoother it out with a wet finger. i also did the seam that runs along the entire firewall from side to side. as for the inside of the car where it's coming in at, look along the firewall at the sealant there, too. probably doing the same thing, just not as easy to see.

The RTV will do the job, but will it take paint?

You can go to a autobody paint shop and buy seam sealer either in a tube or a can. It can be brushed on with a brush in larger areas. This is what the factory uses and can be painted over.

yea, that might be a better choice. i used black rtv and my car is black, so not much of an issue there.
