door panel plastic removal

has anyone else here had troubles takeing the plastic rail off the top of their door panel? do i have to make a custom tool, becuse those fasteners are unnessicary don't make a lot of sense. its like a recessed bolt head (5/16) and then threads going up in a column through the center of it. retarded.

are you talking about removing the door panel from the door or the door panel from...?

you mean the "push outwards, then up" part?

Use a pair of pliers to grip the outer ring of these little nuts. Becareful or the plastic will break before your very eyes.

They actually make a special tool to remove those speed nuts, here's a link to a good thread on it:

gm still caries them. very, very expensive. chances of finding a nice set at a yard are extremely limited. as far as taking them off they make a tool yes, it doesn't really work although if you have never taken one off it helps a little.
