Taking middles off hi rise wing

HEy, I was wondering if anyone has seen the 2 supports off the hi rise wings that are on 91-91 Z28s? Thats the one thing i dont really like about em. They would probably be two weak, but i was just wondering what it would look like with them gone, and if nobody doesnt have em, can someone make a good photoshoppe? hehe

If you took the middle supports off, you'd have to use the outside ones to mount the spoiler, and if you used the outside ones to mount the spoiler than all I can say is have fun opening your hatch.

The outside posts of the spoiler are also mounted to the hatch deck lid, NOT to the quarter panels, you would have no problems mounting it, but you may have some weakness.

You're going to have to cut the spoiler down a few inches (in width) so the outer supports line up with the hatch and not the quarter panels.

The ends of the wing don't actually mount to anything (as far as I can tell). They sit over the gap between the hatch and the quarters, so it would have to be shortened in order for it to all fit on only the hatch.

That, is wrong.

The wing is bolted on the edges of the decklid... as Aaron stated above. The center posts are also bolted.

are u guys sure??? I think there are bolts on the out side ones. If there were not someone could rip it off pretty easy... I'm not sure. But i have seen a after market one and it has bolts on the out side. But if u cut the middle ones off. U might have probs with it sagging.

I stand corrected, it does mount on the edges. Hard to see, but there are mounting pegs on both ends.

Well I found a pic of a hi-rise without the middle supports.

It's molded to the fenders, and the decklid doesnt open. The hatch glass does. Opens like a second generation RX7. (or first, for that matter) So if someone was insane enough to spend the time, they could mount the wing on the sides, and do it securely. That's the other thing, if it's only mounted on the sides, it may come off easier.
