Dyeing leather - worth a try or avoid at all costs?

Really just wondering if anyone has tried this with success. The tan/neutral color from 4th gens is really light compared to most 3rd gen tan interior schemes. I wonder if it's possible to add more brown coloration through leather dyes to the 4th gen seats and not ruin them? I admit it sounds risky considering most of the time a nice set goes for $500+ easy......
Just wondering - any comments?

Dying leather is something that has an endless amount of possibilities.... both good and bad. There are folks who have dyed their seats, panels, whatnot and been extremely pleased with the results, and there are people who have had terrible experiences as well. Consider the fact that every leather seat on every car out there is in fact, dyed in one form or another, and it will not seem so radical. If you wish to dye sucessfully, you need to educate yourself, buy quality products, and practice on things that you won't mind messing up first. I have always had best results with SEM products, you can find them here:

Also, do a search for dye, dying, coloring and similar terms here, the subject had been discussed many times and there is good information to be found here.

Good luck!
