I have a standard 85 so it didnt come with the three piece rear spoiler, the little lip on the decklid and next to the two taillights. I found some on ebay and they just bolt on i think but then it'll have a little gap between the spoiler and the trunk. When it comes factory is there a gap there or would i have to bondo it to make it flush? Any help is appreciated. Also, how exactly are they attached is it just bolted on to the sheet metal or what? THANKS

 

If i read that right...yes there has to be a gap so the trunk will open, there are studs on teh spoiler that go through the decklid and 1/4 panels with a nut on the inside to hold it on. Heres my hawks 5" you can see the gaps

 

I meant is there a gap where the spoiler meets the trunk. For example is it obvious that the spoiler is bolted on separate or is it flush to the decklid? Have you installed your own spoiler before? I have a bunch of questions before i start drilling up my quarter panels and decklid. thanks!

 

Yea, there's going to be a gap in between the spoiler and the decklid. It did come that way from the factory. I just took my three piece off to put the high rise spoiler on. Are you worried that the gap between the spoiler and deck lid will look bad or something.

 

Oh ok, there really isnt a gap there water will get into it but its not really a noticeble gap you can see that in the pic too

id recommend taking your spoiler to the junkyard, and study on a car there. the 3 piece spoiler will already be gone, so you can use your spoiler, and experiment with the holes that are on the parts car.

get you a real good idea at what you are looking at before you make a mistake with the drill.

Wow, thats a good idea, i dont know of too many junkyards near me though, ill look. Did you use like nylon insert locknuts or just regular nuts?

 

use the stock nuts if you have them.
if not autozone carries them. the nut, with the built in spinning washer.

locknuts would put too much strain on those studs in the fiberglass. id be afraid to use them.

 

Thats what i thought, but i never saw the stock ones, ill look for them thnaks
