4-pt Harness Legality issues...

Ok after my car is running the next step is paint and interior reformantion as well as suspention upgrades(frame rigity).

I am going with Jegs 8pt roll cage, my idea is thet i can go roll cage and forget about SFC, wont the roll cage do as much and more?

With the roll cage i would like to install a Racing Harness in the drivers side seat. Are there any laws that say its illegal? I'm sure it differs from state to state, so what are laws in florida?

Anyone with a harness ever been pulled over while wearing? Were you issued a Ticket?

As long as the belts are D.O.T. approved, they SHOULD be perfectly legal. To the best of my knowledge.

In Texas, I don't believe it is legal, because I don't think most real harnesses have D.O.T. approval . BUT it's prolly one of those things that if you're being a jerk to the cop, he's gonna give you a ticket for everything he can, otherwise won't really care.

I got pulled over in my '73 240Z wik a harness on... (just got the new clutch installed and adjusted and was .... umm testing it). After asking for my license and insurance and telling me he pulled me over for doing a little peel out at the stop sign, he then asked what year it was, if I raced it, what I've done to it etc. I autocrossed that car, and I think the key is NOT to say you street race it but race it LEGALLY.

I think if you can prove its mounted properly and its DOT approved you may get off. If you just toss it in there and get injured in a crash insurance won't pay, so make sure you have written approval from them.

Personally I'd leave the stock belts for road use just to avoid the occasional ******* cop.
