Hawk's 5" spoiler filler?

What did everyone use as filler to tweak this spoiler to fit their car?Did you go the resin and cloth route to fit it better or just the fiberglass filler?I started to fit mine and the center and driver side piece fit great out of the box.The passenger side gives me a nice 1/4" os so gap to the quarter and it doesn't extend down far enough to match the other side piece which is longer. Not a big deal as I worked at a body shop for years and now continue to do it on the side.But...I have never worked that much with fiberglass. My hood needed minor work to fit good so that was easy.Just curious to know what you guys used to build the spoiler up wherever needed to fit nice and tight to the car.

For a 1/4" gap, I'd get out the fiberglass cloth and the polyurethane. That's too thick for bondo, and fiberglass mat is a pain in the ***. Cut the cloth into very thin strips. You can either build it up a layer at a time, or you can use your car as a mold. Wax the hell out of the car, then put down a couple layers of masking tape, then spray it with cooking spray, or PVA if you've got it. Anyway, tape off the rest of the area so you don't drip the poly on the car. Anyway, once that's done, install the piece and fill the gap with the fiberglass cloth soaked with the poly. It might be safer to just tke the build-up route, then sand the piece down to fit.

For the price you would think it would fit better.

On my 5in Spoiler I have to Cut the Ends off the Side peaces to make them Line up with the Rear Bumper. (the ends hang down like 1in on both sides )

So dont feel Bad. This spoiler takes alot of work to get it to Fit right.
But man when its down and painted its worth all the work.

Thanks for that info Jim85IROC..exactly what I was looking for.I didn't plan to use bondo to fill it in anyway..I was figuring on the cloth and resin.I'll more than likely build it up a strip at a time and keep fitting it till I am happy with it.

NoItsNotForSale it would upset me had I paid full price...but I got it brand new in box of a member that sold their car and never installed it at alot less than Hawk's wantsBesides its a hand made part and they will never line up like a factory ABS wing. Not a big deal.

bj350hp I wish mine hang down that far on both sides. The driver side is about a 1/2" shorter than the other. So that is another area that will need to be addressed. It seems like only the one side piece needs a bit of work to fit nicely. The other side and center fit damn near perfect with an hour of clean up.
