damage & drivability

ok, finally took a picture of the damaged left underside and I was curious what people think about it... It's next to where the tranny mount bolts up tot he frame and pushed it up an inch or so. picture is not the greatest, but you get the picture. I was curious mainly to know if a DMV instpector (in florida) saw this, would he not give it a title? Long story and it's posted elsewhere in this forum, but I need to know if this is really bad or something that's not going to affect the car's structural integrety much if at all. It was like that why I bought it, but I don't want to go this far and find out that I can't get it to be approved by the inspector. The damage might've been casued by either the towing company, salvage yard (they sold the rims and used a fork lift so to do this. I know this because they had to use one to bring it to the front of the lot before putting wheels on it again. I didn't check or take pictures of this before buying the car so I don't know if they are to blame or not), or the previous owners in which they had a broken front windshield which shows they didn't take the highest care of this '92 camaro heritage edition . btw, she survived the hurricane

i dont think its that bad i have some odd dents like that on my car just not so deep. i would take a chain with some good hooks and a bottle jack and pullem out put the chain artound the jack set the jack on a flat plate on the frame area and pump hook in the holes will pull out the metal and somewhat level back out so it looks better.

maybe im wrong but that is the frame
you aint getting that out :0
and *** knows what put it there in the first place, maybe they dropped the car on something with that forklift, heh..
maybe it bottomed out on something really bad, i dunno that is nasty looking
as long as the rest of the floorpan didnt buckle with it and its still lined up where it should be, i doubt it will be a problem, but as far as inspection gos... *shrug*

yea luckily it doesn't look like it bent the floorpan at all. I can try and get better pics later. Like I said, this is going to court aug 17 to see if the judge will let me have the title for it and erase the COD on it and I'm almost positive it's going to have to be inspected to make sure it's road worthy enough to be a safe daily driver before I can actually get the title back. I am confident that I am going to win the case, but I'm not 100% sure. I have to win in court first, then probably get the inspection, but the judge might want to have it inspected before making a decision. I don't even know if this is actually going to work, but this is how the DMV told me to do it.

can you take it for an inspection before court? i know here in mass we have a specfic inspection place to take total restored and custom cars to for the safety inspection. maybe that will save you some time if you can find such a place and have it towed in for the inspection as you will have to do it anyway. may save you a second visit to the judge.

oh and our cars have no real frame, its just a brace for the unibody. you may be able to pull it out, or you could just leave it i don;t see it causeing any long term problems. could of been caused by placing a jack there too. there not as tough as they look.

yea I plan to get the subframe connectors too for added strength because I know it needs it especially once I finish building the LT1 for it. I've got a ways to go first.

I called the DMV and the Highway Patrol office to see if they would inspect my car and they said they couldn't because of the COD. So I have to wait till court is over. I still have no idea really how the whole court thing goes because I am representing myself without a lawyer and it's a declaratory judgement so it takes longer. I will try and call next week and see what the judge says about how long it's going to take because actually the august court date is kinda like a pretrial. He had just left for 2 weeks last time I called. I've got a lot of other work going on as well like putting a 350 in my yellow camaro, gotta catch up on some bookwork for work, and go to the law library to get more info on this (been there before, but it hard to understand that legal stuff even with a dictionary at times).
