Trans Am hatch

I noticed on my 85 Trans Am that the rear hatch sticks out about half an inch when its closed. And I noticed that most of the other ones I see do too of course some more then others. What is causing this and how do you correct this problem?

Thanks,

I lined mine up by repositioning the hinge at the studs inside the car. You have to remove the struts (can't push the hatch with 'em connected), and the plastic trim on the inside of the roof. It takes 2 people, one to push on the hatch to line it up and one to tighten the nuts. If that doesn't work for you you'll have to move the rear deck piece on the glass, a real PITA because of the sealant.
