Birdie Squeak!

I have a persistent squeak that at times seems under the center and to the rear of the car and at other times near the front. This squeak is only apparent over rough roads. We thought it might be the hatch struts or parking brake cables but have been unable to isolate the source. Has anyone had a similiar squeaking noise while going over road ripples and if so, what was the source? This car is an 87 TA GTA with 70,000 miles and the body is in excellent condition, top and bottom.
Regards,
Laser

It's the body flexing, this is common on the 3rd gen cars you will hear all sorts of squeeks and rattles and never be able to find where they are.

If you don't have a set, best thing to do is get a set of subframe connectors, this will elimnate pretty much all of any noise caused by body flex.

Roger that, you're probably right about the unit body. The sub frame connectors I saw require welding, that's a scary thought if not done properly. I think I'll let this one sit on the back burner for awhile until I find out more information.
Thanks,
