digital dash help

A few questions. .what does the light in the top left corner of the tachometer for? Mine's blank and stays on. My oil gauge doesn't work and just goes up and down and beeps, is this a known issue? Hard to fix? Is there an information page on digital dashes? I didn't see one in tech articles. any help appreciated

Rob

That box in the top left corner is the shift indicator for the 5 speed manual. As far as the oil gauge, it could be that the oil pressure sending unit has failed.

I picked up a new oil pressure sensor, from searching i was under the impression it was supposed to be right next to the distributor, mine was right above the oil filter. here's the thing, it was unplugged. i changed it anyways, plugged it in, the gauge pretty much does the same thing, sometimes it'll sit at a normal position, and randomly dive down to zero, or if im cruising, as soon as i left off the gas itll dive down, but it also did that when it wasn't even plugged in. also, the car has a small to decent oil leak, could that be causing this? any suggestions? thanks

I found it. tried getting it off and.. well. that came off along with the 90 degree elbow it connects to. aparently someone cross-threaded it, may also have been contributing to my oil leak as well. . .
