Paint/hinges....what order...???

I am installing vertical door hinges on my camaro next week. The car is off the road and is being buit by me over a long period of time. When I am done with the car, it will need paint.

Should I get the doors painted, and then attach them with the new hinges, and then later get the rest of the car painted???

i can't afford to get the whole car painted now...

Or shold I not paint them and then have them get painted once the entire car is done???

I think you guys see my problem. Let me know what you think.

Do the jams/hinges now with the doors off. That part should be easy enough to do yourself. It will be much easier to clean and paint and save you a bunch of money. I'm about to do the same thing myself.

have you done those hinges before? do all your modifications if possible before paint. much easier to remove and re install things that are already adjusted and fitted properly then do it with a nice paint job.

So I put the doors on first, with the hinges. And then I paint the jams myself? While the doors are on the car?

I appresiate the posts, but can you guys be a little more detailed. I kinda have to do this in a couple weeks and really am not sure what steps to take.

I would do all your test fitting and measuring first, mount the door so it sits how you like with the proper adjustments, then take the door back off and paint the jams. Then simply put it back on when your done.

so after you put the doors on, make the adjustments and take them off to paint hindges, wouldn't you have to make those same adjustments later on when putting the doors back on?

I think I understand. The hinges need to be welded on in the end. I will trial fit with bolts and get it all lined up, and when it is time for paint, I will get the door jams painted and then bolt the doors on and have the rest of the car painted.

Anoying set of steps, but I guess that is the best way. Wish i could TIG weld, damn mig.
