Does anyone know if I can get patch panels for floor pans for 3rd gens?

I found some rust on the drivers floor of my 86T/A and dont want to replace the whole drivers side floor pan. I have seen half pans but they are $300 and I just need the front part of the drivers floor.

Food for thought. You don't need to use "replacment panels" of any kind. Just use similar guage sheet metal by the rust. I repaired all the rust on my entire floor that way. Works great and if you can cut and weld, you are lookin at less than 70 bucks easy. I picked up a sheet of metal at a local shop for 40 bucks and the rest is history. Check out my site if you wanna see how extensive my "fix" was. Really recomsnd you check it out, it will save u a bundle and it is super easy. No one sees those panels, they don't have to look factory.

I know I dont have to, and on the other Firebird I had I just used metal and made it work.

This Trans Am is my baby and I have had it for 11 years now. It was my first sports car and I want to do it as perfect as I can.

So I figured if I could get patch panels for a fair price I will do that so you will not be able to tell it was ever done even with the carpet out. I know I am being picky, but I want this as perfect as I can.

Plus, the car has no other rust anywhere on the car. it rusted on the drivers floor pan due to torn carpet and wet feet. I checked every where esle on the car and nothing.

So I figured I will do this section right.

if you really want it to be factory, head down to a wreckers, and see what cars have rust free boards, vut what you need and go from there

I tried the junkyard route and so far no dice.

Remember I am in Wisconsin, not too many cars out here without rust. All the ones in the local yard are rusted pretty good where I need it.

Well that is great that you are gonna make it perfect. I wish I could have done that to mine. I guess your best bet is to pick up the full pan on the DS. For perfection I guess you gotta pay. Good luck and it would be great if you could keep us updated.

Are 4th gen floor pans the same, or close enough to use?

Depends on what part. The front I bet is pretty diffent as you get close to where the front suspention is. But the rear has no reason to be off too bad. I would say go for it, if they are cheap and you need them. If not you can still cut and splice pieces due to it being a similar guage steel.
