Just did 4th gen leather and carpet replacement: Some Observations and a Recap
1.) It takes longer than you think.
2.) Label all bolts and nuts and put them in little baggies. This help tremendously
3.) I don't know what the big deal about the e-brake is. . . I just cranked back on mine and took the handle off.
4.) The seats are easy, the carpet is a pain in the ***.
5.) Just because a carpet is said to be pre-molded and "cut" it doesn't mean the thing will drop right in. . . . far from it.
6.) Jute is a PIA to cut through. . . speaking of which, you had better have a very sharp knife.
OK, all in all, this is a pretty straight forward swap, but time consuming. I started at 12:30 and got done at 11:00pm. I had 2 meals in there, a little bit of golf watching on TV and multiple trips to here when I get stuck on stuff. The carpet looks 10x better, although it's not as tight as I would have hoped. The console slid right off once I got the covering trim off, which required removal of the knee pad under the steering column. I just had a couple of issues when it was all said and done:
A.) I hooked up the power lumbar wires per this board, yet I have nothing.
B.) After reinstalling all of the console stuff, the HVAC is not sitting flush with the trim cover for some reason. Everything else went right back together, except I forgot to hook up the radio antenna.
C.) I had my doors open for so long that I burned out my dome light.

my first job took me 11 hours straight which required disassemble, clean up of the floor and re assemble with 4thgen leather and new acc carpet. the second one took 4 hours to cut and fit the new carpet and replace seats and console with it already out be fore hand. the third set took 1 hour...
like anything the more familiar the easier it gets... better it took that long your first time then 1 hour and you did it wrong.
