Split rear seats into a car without them?
What do the split rear seat cars have that the solid rear seat cars do not? I know there is that pole thing on the trans tunnel; which I hope we can cut off and re-weld, but do the single rear seat cars have the boss for the latch peg on the driver's side?

I did a one peice to split 50/50 rear seat swap. One peice cars don't have the nessessary brackets to add a 50/50 seat from the factory. The center pivot hinge needs to be welded onto the driveshaft tunnel and the latch bracket and cage nut needs to be welded to the drivers side inner wheel house.
The pivot hinge on the tunnel is pretty easy. It just goes between to ribs stamped into the metal.
The latch bracket is a little tricky. Its best to set everything up and then mark its placement before welding everything in.
On the backside of the interior plastic there are two round "supports" that go around the hole for the seat back latch. You can use some cardboard to make a template off the passengers side to put the hole location on the drivers side interior panel.

My 89 Firebird has the drivers side seat peg and no split rears. My 85 camaro didn't have the drivers side peg. And that trans tunnel bracket is just 2 small rivets to drill out, its an easy swap.

I know I need this piece (pivot on trans tunnel), but the other part sounds hard!

Check your car, you may have the peg on both sides. If so its rather easy. Also, I meant 4 rivets, not 2. Either way- you know what that piece looks like.
