1990 Firebird Dash into 91 Camaro

I went to the junkyard and found a clean looking dashboard from a 1990 firebird also got some interior door side trims from it and a door opening hatch and door lock all for 19.99 at pick your part.

Took the dash home got all excited and took the old camaro dash off and then tried installing the firebird one and to my surprise the holes did not match up and the camaro dash is actually wider in width!!!!! ahhh so my friend had to drill holes in the dash to bolt it on.. now I have about about a inch in a half left of space that can be seen when your outside looking inside the car (winshield) section.

I thought both Firebird and Camaro dashed fitted each other regardless of the year!!???? I guess I was wrong

I'll post some pics later

Nope, the dashes are a different size. I found that out when I tried putting my dash pad from my Camaro into my TA... didn't work.

this is completely off subject (although i didn't know there were differences until this post) but...you've got a really nice looking matte black camaro, very clean and straight from what i can tell....Question, why do you have those funky looking scoop thingies on it? Think the stock flat hood would be much better looking, or do you have a 502 under there and need every piece of air you can get so it doesn't suck the hood through the intake manifold.

Yeah the scoops are ridiculous. Unless of course you live in your car and one slot is for mail and the other for the newspaper.

He made the scoop-things by himself. I admire his willingness to expiriment.. But dude, they don't look all that great. Toss a stock or IROC hood on 'er.

Everyone needs to quite trashin on his hood, if he likes it then you need to leave him alone...there was already a thread trashin his hood and i bet he doesnt care what any of you think about it. And its also more orginal than most hoods people have on here.(including mine)

Wow... that's one of the funniest comments that I've heard in a LONG time !!

I wish I didn't have to say so, but that hood looks ridiculous bro... otherwise (to me) it's a kick-*** Camaro.

see, that's why I said something. I've finally gotten good at biting my tongue when I see stuff like this, but his car is so nice otherwise. If Raif did this to her car I wouldn't have said a thing, because it would fit in perfectly with her "bolt on as much tacky crap as possible" theme, but in this car, which is otherwise VERY nice looking (I love flat black ), it sticks out like a turd in a urinal.

getting back tot he topic, I'm really surprised that the camaro and firebird dashes aren't perfectly interchangable. All I see is red X's... can you repost some of the pics?

Re: 1990 Firebird Dash into 91 Camaro

I always thought they were the same too, exect the speaker holes anyway. This knowledge blows every ad on ebay away, they all say for Camaro or Firebird.

All I see are red X's too, what gives? I wanna see the mail box, dammit!! lol, j/k
